I am thankful for many things in my life, but this morning, I am most grateful for being able to shake the laziness from my body and go to church. Usually, I can be found hiding underneath the covers from the mound of laundry!! Not this morning though!! Ahhhh….it feels so good to be participating in this beautiful day!
As I’m sure you’ve surmised, the sermon today was on gratitude. Gratitude because God did not have to create us! I have never given that a thought. Of all the things He chose to create, He chose us to make the best!! HE CHOSE US AND STILL DOES!! Things are great in my life right now, but I have suffered before in darkness. There have been times when I have been angry at whatever problem I’ve been given, yes angry, and have turned my head from God. But did God turn away from me during those times? I believe not!
I’m mesmerized by Paul at the moment. I really would like to dig deeper, but for now I am amazed that it appears he never gave up on God. Paul spent countless times in jail and during those times he remained grateful to God and continued his ministry to God. Wow! How powerful! He did not turn away and curse God, but accepted the hand he was dealt and continued on the path he felt drawn to.
The other day I discovered a situation an acquaintance was in and I thought to myself, “You know what. No matter what problems I perceive to have, nothing in my life right now compares to that.” We don’t know how strong we are until we are in the muck of things. At all times though, we need to thank God for where we are even when we don’t understand it. If we remain faithful and grateful during the good times, won’t we be stronger during the rough times? Won’t the light of Christ burn brighter during times of strife to see us through?
I truly believe so and hope you find that truth as well. Soooo….what are you thankful for? Find some quiet time and truly share those things within yourself.
