Giving back in my local community is a cause I am passionate about. Jewels by Trish is committed to making a difference in her local community by giving back to those in need. There are homeless, starving, and neglected seniors, adults, and children right here at home. Therefore, Jewels by Trish is committed to donating a portion of her annual proceeds to a local soup kitchen, Abraham’s Tent.
Abraham’s Tent is a hot meal program for the needy under the direction of Pearl Cole and sponsored by the Calcasieu Ministerial Association. Abraham’s Tent prepares and serves hot meals daily for FREE. Anyone in need may show up to eat. No questions asked.
Abraham’s Tent has been in operation for over 25 years. The day begins at 7 a.m., preparing lunches to go to the Chateau du Lac high-rise subsidized apartments. Additional meals are cooked daily to be served on site. In addition, donated clothes are there for the taking. The program currently feeds more than 250 persons per day from a former public elementary school building and depends greatly on the generosity of donors and volunteers.
It’s disheartening to think of seniors, adults, or children suffering from hunger or lack of clothing. I am dedicated to this cause and it makes my heart swell to see so many also donating in the fight against hunger. I encourage you to consider giving back locally as well, whether it be a soup kitchen, donating clothes, or making a monetary donation.
