I have always loved zebras. I find themto be amazing creatures! I am an animal lover at heart, but I am drawn to zebras for some reason. Maybe it’s because they haven’t been domesticated like the horse.
We recently visited a wildlife ranch in Texas where you drive through and feed all kinds of animals from your truck. The animals ranged from goats, bison, all sorts of deer, cattle, wildebest, camels, rhinos, emu, ostrich & rhea (which were hilarious to feed!! Their eyes are huge!!), and my favorite the damaraland zebra. If you are planning a get away and you don’t live too far from San Antonio, I highly recommend this ranch. You can find out more at http://www.wildliferanchtexas.com/.
Much to my surprise I received an email from a bead vendor advertising white zebra acrylic beads!! I left them in my shopping cart for a few days wondering what on earth I would design with these funky beads! My love for all things zebra print won over my fears and voila’, here are my creations!! The wire wrapping on the earrings and the pendant were easily decided. I struggled some on how to string the necklace. What beads would do the motif justice, but keep it funky, yet classy? Of course, my favorite pearls!! In my opinion, a girl can never have too many pearls!!
Fun facts about zebras: no 2 zebras have the same stripe pattern (amazing!), prints are different on opposite side of the body (wow!), call each other with barking sounds, very aggressive nature, have a mean bite like their cousin the horse, and have extremely good senses for detecting predators.
The zebras that did come to the truck were wary, but trusted us once we started feeding them. The expressions on my children’s faces were priceless!!! Enjoy the pictures of our encounters!!
