When I think of change, my mind wanders back to that old song by David Bowie…”Ch-ch-changes…time may change me, but I can’t change time.” Why are we so resistant to change? Have you ever noticed the many changes a flower goes through before it becomes an “adult”? It starts as a tiny green bud, grows and grows, turns into a small colored bulb, and then slowly opens and grows into a beautiful flower. But the process is not over. It will eventually start to shrivel up, turn brown, and die. Then another young bulb takes its place. Hmmm…are our lives much different than that flower?
I am a creature of habit. I eat the same breakfast and the same lunch nearly every day! Supper varies each night, but with the same rotating menu each week. I thrive on routine and can get quite irritable with changes in my schedule that throw things haywire. This year, there will be many changes in my job life. Thankfully, I have been looking ahead and preparing myself for these changes. But what about when we don’t foresee the changes coming? Wow, that can cause a lot of stress for a person, especially a habitual creature as myself. I stumbled across something the other day that I have decided to add to my mantra if you will… “God has a plan for us. The changes do not bother Him. God will be steady throughout my life.”
Wow! That is powerful for me. I hope it speaks to you as well!! Have a great day!!
